The city of McDonough, Georgia is rich in history. The city has been around since the 1800s and has a very interesting and rich past. Originally, the land was used primarily for farming. However, in the early 20th century, the city began to grow as a railroad hub. This growth continued until it reached its peak in the 1920s. In the early 1900s, many African Americans migrated to the city looking for a better quality of life. This migration helped McDonough become a melting pot of people from many different backgrounds. With the influx of people came new businesses, and the city became a hub for commerce. There were several industries that were established in the city including a plaster mill, a photo lab, and a chemical plant.
